GameStop Special Offer

The good folks over at Gamestop have a special offer out to promote Nintendo's upcoming racing game, Mario Kart Wii.

All you must do is trade in 2 wii titles from the list (which is posted after the break) and Gamestop Will let you purchase Mario Kart for the mere price of $9.99. The thing is...all the games on the list are pretty new, so your basically getting screwed six ways from Sunday on this deal.

Sigh...that's capitalism for ya.

GameStop Not Taking In Gameboys

Are you planning on finally trading in your original Gameboys and Gameboy Colors along with their corresponding games? Well if you're going to do it at a GameStop you had better do it soon because as of April 7th, GameStop will not be accepting trade-ins for those utterly ancient gaming peripherals.

Sad to think that the Gameboys are actually that old, I've got 2 originals and one GBC of my own, with just about no game for them. I traded all my games but couldn't bring myself to get rid of the darned systems themselves.

GameStops Are Bad Luck

Monday, January 22nd a couple of GameStop employees were held up and robbed by a crazy white guy with a knife.

Employees of Game Stop, in the 1200 block of East Sunset Drive, told Bellingham Police that a tall, very skinny white man who appeared to be about 20 years old browsed the store for about 45 minutes, then took several games to the register.

An employee rang up the games, but the man began to walk out of the business talking to himself, according to police. He then went back to the register and pulled out a small knife, demanding cash and the games.

Employees gave cash to the man, who jogged out of the store and sprinted east. The suspect was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood up and jeans. Employees said he smelled strongly of cigarettes.

These employees were far luckier than the manager of a different GameStop whom lost his life thanks to a robber.

With incidents like this it makes GameStops seem like not such a hot place to work, but every store-chain gets people robbing, or trying to rob it at some point. It's not going to stop me from eventually getting a job at a GameStop.
