Novastrike: Goes Down In Skill Level, Goes Up In Extras

Tiki Games, the Playstation Network game Novastrike's publishers, announced that a major update for Novastrike is now available.

The update lowers the difficulty of the game as well as adds Trophy support (16 of em in fact) and a few other goodies.

“At the start of June we released NOVASTRIKE and quickly discovered a lot of customers found the difficulty settings to be too challenging,” said Kevin McCann, president and creative director of Tiki Games. “Subsequently, the update really focuses on making the difficulty modes more accessible while also still retaining challenging modes for players that are very experienced with shooters.”

“Trophies became available while we working on the update so we included sixteen trophies for players to earn,” continued Kevin McCann. “We also included customizable controls, XMB music playlist support, and more. Supporting our customer-base is and always will be an extremely high priority for Tiki Games.”

NOVASTRIKE Update highlights include:
Reduced difficulty for RECRUIT, SOLDIER, and VETERAN modes. A new HARDCORE mode has also been introduced for shooter fans wanting a real challenge

-16 trophies to unlock – twelve bronze, and four silver

-Fully customizable controls

-XMB music playlist support

-Weapon info pane that details newly acquired weapons

-Multiple saved game support

PSN DLC on PSP UMD....Oh the Acronyms.

Just around the corner (2009) you can expect to be buying what was previously Playstation Network exclusive downloadable content on hard copies of UMDs for your PSP.

What sort of DLC can you expect on your PSP? Right now there's two themed packs that have been announced and they are as follows:

Power Pack: flOw, Beats, and Syphon Filter: Combat Ops

Puzzle Pack: Lemmings, Go! Sudoku, and Go! Puzzle

Ok, a little bit of gamer creamage here....but I can't think of a much better portable game than flOw. You can lose hours to that game by accident.

Exclusive PS3 DLC For Mirror's Edge

Everyone's ready to run, leap, and roll around in the upcoming parkour-esque game Mirror's Edge; but it seems that Playstation 3 owners will have some extra goodies to gain with their version of the game due to PS3 exclusive downloadable content on the Playstation Network.

Nothing has been said about what the DLC will end up being, whether it be more missions, levels, guns, or whatever but we do know that yes, it will be coming.

This bit of news was released by Sony when they crushed the rumor that Mirror's Edge would be getting an early PS3 timed release.

Motorstorm 2 On It's Way

The sequel to one of the best racing games on the Playstation 3 (Not too much competition however...) has been confirmed and announced with some details about it already and it should be coming in Fall of this year. Check out what the original article has to say after the break (and my prediction at the very end of it all).

MotorStorm returns this autumn on PLAYSTATION 3. Prepare for the next installment of the world’s most brutal off-road racing festival:

* A brand new location: experience the grandeur, diversity and unpredictability of a remote Pacific island
* 16 new diverse multi-route tracks hosting MotorStorm’s unique mixture of vehicles
* The aggressive monster truck now joins your garage
* Split-Screen Multiplayer racing
* compete with up to four buddies on the same screen

It’s the best selling PLAYSTATION 3 title to date and now, it’s time to take to the starting grid again as the MotorStorm festival heads to the tropics.

The first MotorStorm wowed critics and gamers alike with its heady formula of brutal, unpredictable off-road racing, festival vibes and stunning Monument Valley desert scenery. This new outing takes you to a solitary tropical paradise in the Pacific Ocean, ready for a whole new take on no-holds-barred racing action through thick swamps, dense jungle, towering peaks and steaming volcanoes.

Not just pretty backdrops to the action, these environments take centre stage in challenging players with everything in Mother Nature’s arsenal. Thick mud, tangled undergrowth, swift flowing rivers, choking volcanic clouds and searing lava pools all test the drivers to their limits and beyond.

Using the power of PLAYSTATION Network, 16 players can race head-to-head online and, for the first time in the series, racers can hit the gas in four-player split-screen mode. All of the vehicle classes from the first MotorStorm are here again: ATVs, rally cars, buggies, motorbikes, race trucks, mudpluggers and Big Rigs – as well as the newly arrived monster trucks that climb, sprint and roll over any other vehicle in their way.

Delivered to you on Blu-ray Disc, expect a rich festival of off road racing, along with a host of game modes and rewards. It’s brutal, dangerous, relentless, and unpredictable and more than a game - MotorStorm is way of life so stay tuned, the festival is back this autumn and promises to be larger than ever before.

Alright, here's my sum-up of what we know about Motorstorm 2. It is the same game but with slightly prettier graphics, offline multiplayer, and some nice tweaks and small add-ons here and there.

The first MotorStorm game was fun, crazy, and explosive. Literally. But I feel that the obsessive fans from the first game wont be enough to make the second one a huge selling game as well. I also think that the only reason the first one sold so well was because of the fact it was packaged directly with the 80 gig Ps3 in the first place.

Now with games like Burnout Paradise, Grand Turismo 5, and all the other racing sequels that come out every year or two are on their way, MotorStorm wont have much of a chance here. Though there's always the chance that my gut instinct is 100% wrong and MotorStorm 2 will go multi-platinum and win awards upon awards.

Burnout Paradise DLC Coming Soon

EA has announced that additional content for Burnout Paradise will be coming to all whom play online, whether they pay for it or not....

Publisher Electronic Arts confirmed to Multiplayer today that “Burnout Paradise”’s additional content allows gamers who choose to opt out of engaging with new content to still see the new content in-game while playing online. Additionally, EA says the content will be a combination of pay-to-play and free.

It seems like the content will not be playable unless you pay, but you can still drool at the pretty cars, paint jobs, or whatever it is exactly that the DLC will feature. Though the part where it mentions "a combination of pay-to-play and free" gives me hope that those of us who are penny pinchers will still get to add a few new shiny toys to our collections.

Devil May Cry 4 Demo Coming Straight From Hell

Congratulations Xbox Live and Playstation Network users, the Devil May Cry 4 demo is finally going to be up for download on Thursday, January 24th...

The demo introduces gamers to the gothic-inspired supernatural world of Devil May Cry 4, new protagonist Nero and the awesome power of his Devil Bringer. The demo consists of a sampling of sections from the full game, chosen to showcase Devil May Cry 4’s varied locales and allows gamers to familiarize themselves with Nero’s unique abilities. Players will receive instruction on the various new actions that the Devil Bringer bestows, such as the ability to slam creatures to the ground, cover great distances in a single bound or even grab enemies while on the ground or in the air and pull them towards Nero to continue the attack combo. The Exceed system allows Nero to “rev up” his sword as if it were a motorbike throttle and unleash devastating attacks. Players will need to master all these techniques before the end of demo showdown with the mighty Berial.

Sounds like it'll be fun, thought I'm not sure how fans of the Devil May Cry series will feel about an all new white haired main character. If Nero ends up being a knock-off of Dante, I know that I'll be upset about that.

Also if you're wondering what the mysterious Berial boss looks like, check out his picture over here. He looks like a centaur mixed with Ifrit and dipped in a cauldron of fire. Oh, and a beard to rival the members from ZZ Top.
