Wii Ware Announcment, Gameloft to Make Some Games

Gameloft, a publisher who does mainly casual games like solitaire, backgammon, all those goodies; and more recently Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles for the DS has announced that they will be developing games for Wii Ware.

With games set to launch in Europe, Unites States and Japan, Gameloft is planning a diverse line-up that consists of Block Breaker Deluxe, Midnight Pool, Midnight Bowling and TV Show King. Each game will either be completely original to WiiWare or vastly enhanced and redone for the platform. In addition, all the games are created to complement the Wii RemoteTM, a motion sensing controller which allows the player to interact with the screen.

I'm not sure what exactly Midnight Pool and Midnight Bowling are (probably just turn the lights out) but it sounds like exactly the kind of casual games that the Wii Ware section was designed for. Press release after the break.

GAMELOFT SET TO DEVELOP FOR WiiWARE

Paris, France, March 27th, 2008
Gameloft®, a leading developer and publisher of mobile games, announced today it is developing a strong line-up for WiiWareTM, Nintendo's new downloadable game service for the Wii systemTM.

"We are delighted to be working with Nintendo on the WiiWare," said Michel Guillemot, president of Gameloft. "We have great confidence in the games that we are developing, several of which include award winning established brands and original creations specifically for WiiWare."

Block Breaker Deluxe is the best selling brick-breaking game, over 8 million copies sold, that has been vastly enhanced and improved for WiiWare. The longest, most feature-rich brick-breaker game created, the game is easy to navigate by moving the Wii Remote left and right to shift the pad and connect with the ball.
TV Show King is an original game only available on WiiWare. The game takes on the role of a mock game show testing players' general knowledge.
Midnight Pool and Midnight Bowling, are top sellers on the mobile platform, but have been completely redone with new features for WiiWare. For Midnight Pool, the Wii Remote is used as a cue and in Midnight Bowling it substitutes for the bowling motion.

Gameloft is a Nintendo Official Publisher in Europe and the United States.

Army of Two Demo?

I use a question mark in the possibility of an Army of Two demo coming to the Xbox Live Marketplace, even though EA announced it in a press release (which is after the jump), it was set for a date of April 1st.

April Fool's Day, I find myself being hesitant to believe anything I hear set on that day. It could just me being paranoid though, and if so, enjoy your demo people.

People all over the world have already joined the army of two…now is your chance to get in on the action.

On April 1st anyone who has not yet played ARMY OF TWO(tm) can team up to create the deadliest two-man military outfit a government can buy. In this free online demo, two people can play exciting co-op missions exclusively on Xbox LIVE(tm) Marketplace. In the demo, two players complete an intensive co-op training session before they are dropped into Somalia where they must work together to take out the local warlord.

Players engage in two-man tactics and boost their Aggro level to become the ultimate combat force that no enemy can withstand. ARMY OF TWO gameplay focuses on two-man missions, two-man strategies, two-man tactics and a two-man advantage to bring a new and groundbreaking gaming experience to players worldwide, online and offline. It captivates gamers with a politically charged storyline, centering on the impact and ethical issues of Private Military Corporations.

The End Draws Near - Sam and Max Season 2 Finale

On April 10th (GameTap release) and 11th (World release) the second season of Sam and Max, that crazy adventure game that tells an awesome story, will finally be over. After months upon months of plot development and hilarious character development the season has finally reached it's climax.

Telltale hasn't said anything about a Season 3, but one would only imagine they'll keep everybody's favorite detectives in action. The press release is after the break, it's a pretty interesting read this time if you're a Sam and Max fan.

Sam & Max Go To Hell!
Dog and rabbity-thing to descend into fiery depths and duel with the devil himself in the epic Season Finale this April

SAN RAFAEL, CA, March 26, 2008 – After months of building anticipation, the groundbreaking episodic game series Sam & Max Season Two has reached its climax. Now Telltale can at last reveal details about the exciting Sam & Max Season Two finale. With souls on the line and the fate of mankind hanging by a thread, Sam & Max will come face to face with their biggest, baddest adversary ever. The episode, entitled What's New, Beelzebub?, will debut Thursday, April 10 for subscribers of Turner Broadcasting's GameTap service (www.gametap.com). Its worldwide release will follow one day later, on Friday, April 11, from Telltale's website (www.telltalegames.com).

What's New, Beelzebub? caps a five-game season that has been gaining momentum since November. During this time, Sam & Max have faced off against a demonically-possessed Santa in the North Pole, visited the tropics to stop a cataclysmic volcano eruption, stormed a trendy Eurotrash nightclub overrun with dancing zombies to vanquish their vampire leader, and launched across space and time to track down their missing friend Bosco. Now, judgment day is at hand, and it's time for a showdown with the guy downstairs to bargain for Bosco's soul. But, in the corporate wasteland known as Hell, not even Sam & Max are safe from eternal damnation. Can they wiggle free from Satan's grasp, or have they finally reached the end of the line?

The Sam & Max series has been widely heralded as one of the best examples of successful episodic gaming. In Season Two, the model has been used to piece out a clever and humorous story month by month, gradually growing suspense and winning the praise of critics and fans as seemingly unrelated threads and increasingly varied scenarios have woven into a surprising and compelling plot. As the most epic and off-the-wall Sam & Max episode yet, What's New, Beelzebub? promises to close the season with a bang.

Anticipation is already high for those following the series, but it's not too late for new players to dive in. All Sam & Max Season Two episodes can be purchased from Telltale's online store through a full season set or as individual episodes and are also available as part of a GameTap subscription. Additionally, customers who purchase the Season Two bundle from Telltale will be eligible to get a DVD that includes all five episodes along with bonus content for just the cost of shipping and handling. Emails will be sent to qualifying customers when the DVD is available for ordering.

GTA IV Stat Tracker

Today Rockstar has announced a stat tracking system for GTA IV's single player campaign. Similar to Activision's guitarhero.com, Rockstar Games Social Club will offer users multiplayer leaderboards and assorted statistics using the "aggregated data of millions of connected players." There will also be rewards for who can complete GTA IV's singleplayer first, or who can achieve 100% completion. All that is needed to access these features is a PSN or XBL account.

Full list of features after the break.

In other news, Rockstar has released it's final trailer for GTA IV, titled "Good Lord, What Are You Doing? (a.k.a. Everyone's a Rat)." The video is available for download on both PSN and XBL.

* LCPD Police Blotter -- A virtual map and tracker of single-player criminal activity logged in Liberty City from the aggregated data of millions of connected players - showing the most dangerous areas of town, most commonly used weapons and more.
* The Story Gang -- This special single-player leaderboard recognizes players who complete Niko Bellic's main story arc of Grand Theft Auto IV - The leaderboard ranks players according to the total amount of playing time it's taken to complete the story, as well as a historical rank by who has completed it first. Members of this club will receive special online widgets and merit badges marking all of their in-game accomplishments.
* The 100% Club -- Watch to see who will be the first to complete 100% of the game. The first ten people to be identified on the Social Club as reaching 100% will be sent an ultra-rare commemorative 'key to the city' to mark their accomplishment. In the future, the 100% Club will then carry a historical leaderboard showing rankings of who has completed 100% of a game in the shortest span of playing hours.
* The Hall of Fame -- This area will dynamically recognize those singularly elite players who have reached the top of the hill on various statistical leaderboards, and will also contain a personal awards display of special in-game landmarks and successes in Social Club competitions.
* The Liberty City Marathon -- A ranking of special physical milestones achieved in the game - from the amount of miles walked, driven, or swam - to the number of bullets fired and stunt-jumps jumped. There will be additional special marathon-based competitions in the future from this area as well.

Something Is Happening To Madden '08!?!

!!!!!!!

Madden '08 has evolved into Madden '09!!

Yep, Madden '09 has officially been dated for a release of August 12th, 2008 and this year it has a partner in crime, the collector's edition.

The special collectors edition will include the following: Madden '09, Head Coach '09, exclusive classic Madden gameplay, and a bonus DVD packed with extra footage and exciting football related things.

By classic Madden gameplay do they mean the Genesis version ones? Or are they going to be clever and include an actual football? All corny jokes aside, the press release comes after the break.

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., - March 27, 2008 - Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:
ERTS) announced today that Madden NFL 09 will be available in retail
stores in North America on August 12, including a special collector’s
edition in celebration of the 20th anniversary of one of the
best-selling video game franchises of all time. The Madden NFL 09 20th
Anniversary Collector’s Edition will be the ultimate interactive NFL
experience - featuring full versions of both Madden NFL 09 and the
all-new NFL Head Coach 09, exclusive classic Madden NFL gameplay, and an
extensive library of exclusive bonus video content.

“The Madden NFL franchise has a rich history, and we’re proud to be
celebrating it with this definitive video game package,” says Peter
Moore, president of EA SPORTS. “Featuring two deep and innovative new
standalone games, as well as a host of exclusive bonus content, the
Madden NFL 09 20th Anniversary Collector’s Edition is the ultimate
interactive offering for both long-time Madden NFL fans and anyone who
enjoys football on Sundays. I can’t think of a better way to get your
NFL fix than to enjoy everything that’s unique about both Madden NFL 09
and NFL Head Coach 09, and then connecting and sharing content from
both.”

Whether you prefer to make your moves on the field, from the sidelines
or in the front office, the Madden NFL 09 20th Anniversary Collector’s
Edition has something for every football fan. Madden NFL 09 will feature
the most immersive gameplay, the richest online offerings and the most
comprehensive feature depth in the history of the franchise, while NFL
Head Coach 09 has been reinvented to provide a unique new NFL experience
by allowing fans to be in total control of their favorite franchises.
The two games offer unique experiences and then can even interact with
one another with gamers being able to import their user-designed plays
from NFL Head Coach 09 and put them into Madden NFL 09 to create
customized playbooks for complete control on the field.

“Both Madden NFL 09 and NFL Head Coach 09 are deep and unique gaming
experiences that will truly immerse sports fans of all ages, skill
levels and playing styles,” says Chris Erb, EA SPORTS director of
marketing. “With the Madden NFL 09 20th Anniversary Collector’s
Edition, we’re bringing two great NFL games together to create the
definitive football offering.”

NFL Head Coach 09 provides the complete NFL coaching experience,
offering a variety of different ways to control an NFL franchise, on and
off the field, in-season and off-season. With strategic game-planning
features, NFL Head Coach 09 places gamers in the coach’s seat by
allowing gamers to comprehensively scout the opponent, build custom
playbooks, and develop a team that will adapt to the philosophy and
system of an NFL franchise.

Last year’s Madden NFL 08 was honored with various awards, including the

industry. Since 2002, Madden NFL has been the number one selling sports
game** each year in North America.

Both Madden NFL 09 and NFL Head Coach 09 are developed in Orlando,
Florida by the award-winning EA Tiburon studio, which also produces

EA Speaks Some Words About Bad Company Beta

The Battlefield: Bad Company Beta (Previous Articles: 1 2) starts today and with it comes EA addressing the rumors, which apparently are true, about them including pay-to-play content in the Beta. In specific 5 guns that non-payers will not be able to get and thusly get their royal booties epically owned.

What EA said doesn't so much explain their reasoning or beliefs behind the paid weapons, but just gives more 'valuable' information about it. Read it after the jump.

"...Battlefield: Bad Company features numerous weapons in the core game. In addition to the core set of weapons, Battlefield: Bad Company will release five unique weapons free of charge through five different promotional programs prior to launch. EA will again make these weapons available to players free of charge after launch, in case anyone missed the pre-launch promotions.

"At launch, EA will release a Gold Edition of Battlefield: Bad Company which will feature an additional five new weapons. For players who do not purchase the Gold Edition of the game, they can still buy the five weapons at a small individualized price per item. All weapons are balanced for gameplay. More weapons offer players more choices but do not create an advantage/disadvantage for players who do not opt to buy new items.

"Currently, the menu in the Battlefield: Bad Company beta notes all ten weapons; the five available free of charge pre-launch as well as the additional five available in the Gold Edition."

Is enabling players whom are more willing to pay for extras really that good of an idea?

The way I see it one of two things will happen with a third option for the weirdos, free players will get discouraged by the repeated butt whompings and quit, free players will get inspired to purchase the weapons after seeing how damned cool they are, or finally (the weirdos) will just have to get better at using their free weapons and administer a harsh dose of ass stomping to the pompous paying players.

More Details on 50 Cent's Newest Game

Much to Undrallio's dismay, MTV has written an exclusive on the latest game starring the infamous rapper, 50 Cent. Not much is known of the setting or story of the game, but it appears 50 will be fighting "gangstas" all around the world

Blood On the Sand, as it is called, will play pretty much like Gears of War, allowing the player to take the role of 50 Cent while a secondary character is controlled by AI or a friend online. As 50 you will blast your way through beautiful environments, powered by Epic's Unreal Engine 3.

50 cent: Blood in the Sand seems to be shaping up to be a decent game, lets just hope it doesn't go the way of it's predecessor.

Screenshots of GTAIV's multiplayer

Fiddy Cent Gets A Sequel (Goodbye Sanity...)

Epic joy readers! According to the most recent issue of EGM, the "gangster" rapper 50 Cent is going to be getting a sequel to the most wonderful awesome game that pretty much showed Gears of War who's boss, 50 Cent: Bulletproof.

In case you couldn't tell, I was in fact, being incredibly sarcastic. I'm not biased against rappers getting their own games or anything....I'm just biased against (inevitably) bad sequels, especially bad sequels of bad games.

That's all that's known right now (for those of you whom actually care...) about what will probably be called "Bulletproof 2" or something real original like that.

Fallout 3 to have over 200 endings

"Being that we are Bethesda, everything gets a bit big, so as of last week we're over 200 endings. That's not an exaggeration."

Japan Gets Wii-Ware

Last week in the Western world, Wii owners could install an update that would prepare the Wii for the upcoming (prospectively May released) Wii-Ware. Now Japan just got their WiiWare all fresh and ready for debut along with 9 games to start off with.

* Okiraku Ping Pong Wii (500 Wii Points)
* Kotoba no Puzzle Mojipittan Wii (1,000 Wii Points)
* Saku Saku Animal Panic (1,000 Wii Points)
* Star Solider R (800 Wii Points)
* Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King (1,500 Wii Points)
* Tenshi Solitaire (500 Wii Points)
* Dr. Mario & Saikin Bokumetsu (1,000 Wii Points)
* Minna no Pokemon Bokujou (1,000 Wii Points)
* Lonpos (1,000 Wii Points)

Not much is really known about Wii-Ware, except that it may be used for original game titles and indie developers to market games through. A lot like Xbox Live Arcade and the Playstation Network.

Most likely US and Europe will be getting different games than Japan, but I wouldn't mind seeing the Final Fantasy one come overseas to us.

Dead Fantasy II released

Today I have a little treat for you guys. Pretty much anyone who browses gametrailers knows of Dead Fantasy, an animation which pits the girls from Final Fantasy (Yuna, Rikku, and Tifa) against the Dead or Alive girls (Kasumi, Ayane, and Tina). Recently, the creator of Dead Fantasy has uploaded the latest installment in what I assume will be a 3 part series.

This 11 minute video of awesomeness picks up exactly where the action left off with the first Dead Fantasy and ends leaving you yearning for more. I definitely recommend checking it out.

Super Smash Bros Comparison

Game Trailers just put up a pretty cool video that shows footage from Super Smash Bros, Melee, and Brawl comparing all three throughout the series. It's about 5 mins long and pretty much shows one thing, the games just got prettier. That's about it.

Not to say the games aren't still friggin addicting though, but before I get too many haters....watch the damned video.

Metal Gear Solid 4 Limited Edition Details

As we rapidly approach Metal Gear Solid 4's June 12th release, details about the game's limited edition US version are revealed. Gamestop/Ebgames employee and NeoGAF forum member Kagari has been quoted:

"The limited edition will retail for $84.99 and include the following:

A Blu-ray containing
2 making of documentaries, and interview with Kojima
4 chapters of the graphic novel
Metal Gear Import Soundtrack CD

Reserves for the limited edition will also get an exlusive Metal Gear Solid 4 artbook at time of purchase."

That's a mighty hefty price tag for a fancy collectors tin and an hour of extra content. Sheesh, at least with Assassin's Creed they gave you a really rad figurine of the super neato Altair!
